Oh, hey, it’s Tara, your local metabolic and menopause NP. I’m the founder and owner of The Root Well Care. Let me introduce myself. I have been in the healthcare field since 2009, when I started my career as a registered nurse. I have spent many of these years working bedside, providing case management services, serving in leadership roles, and finally returning to obtain my master's degree as a family nurse practitioner. After I graduated, I practiced family medicine within my home County in upstate New York.

I thoroughly enjoyed providing care for my community. However, I became increasingly frustrated with today’s insurance-driven rather than patient-driven healthcare. This frustration led me to create my own clinic. My clinic, The Root Well Care, focuses on metabolic management, perimenopause and menopause care, and preventative comprehensive laboratory reviews with longitudinal management.

Why trust me as your local metabolic and menopause nurse practitioner? I have severe endometriosis, which has required multiple extensive surgeries and medications to place me in a medically induced “menopause “. This is similar to undergoing a total hysterectomy and going into a surgical menopause. I have been dealing with severe menopausal symptoms myself and completely understand how frustrating perimenopause and menopause symptoms can be in your everyday life.

I understand the frustration with metabolic challenges and struggles with weight. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. Several years ago, I had a health scare, which put me in touch with an endocrinologist. My Endocrinologist changed my life and introduced me to GLP-1 medications. As a result, I have lost over 150 pounds. I am a firm believer in medically assisted weight loss and have years of firsthand experience taking these medications myself.

Obesity has many lifelong consequences, and these consequences can be lessened or prevented by maintaining a healthy weight. There’s no shame in needing assistance in the treatment of obesity. Obesity is a medical condition, not a lifestyle. Obesity should be treated just as equally as medically treating high blood pressure.

If you combine the concepts of medical weight management, perimenopause and menopause care, and comprehensive preventive laboratory evaluations, you can treat the root causes of many chronic disease processes before they begin and help improve those already diagnosed with chronic illness.

This is The Root Well Care's philosophy. We are cash-based, so we can provide you with individualized care that is not dictated by what an insurance company thinks is important. Rather, I, as your provider, want to treat what you feel is important to your overall health within our clinic’s scope of practice.
